The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Athletics & Cross Country to lead and develop our athletics and distance running programs. This role is ideal for a passionate educator and coach who is committed to fostering excellence, participation, and a lifelong love of sport. Available to commence as soon as possible until the end of the 2026 academic year (with possibility to extend).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the athletics and cross-country programs, in both primary and secondary year levels
- Design and implement structured development training programs for athletes of varying abilities
- Coach and mentor student-athletes, promoting skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Coordinate and oversee participation in competitions, meets, and events
- Identify and nurture talented athletes while encouraging broad participation
- Manage scheduling, logistics, and communication with staff, students, and parents
- Maintain accurate records of performance, attendance, and progress
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
- Develop and support coaches to improve their performance effectiveness
- Collaborate with other coaches, staff, and external sporting bodies
About You
- Proven experience in coaching athletics and/or cross country
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire athletes of all levels
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of training principles, injury prevention, and athlete wellbeing
- Relevant coaching qualifications (preferred or required depending on organisation)
All positions at Peninsula Grammar require:
- Employee WWCC and a National Police Check
- First-Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications
- Child Safety training (Mandatory Reporting Certificate) - provided upon commencement
