Job Description

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team for the 2026 academic year.  As a key member of the Department of Learning Support, you will play a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to secondary year students. This is a maternity leave contract position that offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the educational journey of our students.

This is a full-time (Monday to Friday) opportunity working with our middle & senior school students for the 2026 academic year. 

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with additional educational needs
  • Assisting in the implementation of individual learning plans and supporting students in achieving their learning goals
  • Collaborating with teachers to create inclusive learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of students
  • Facilitating small group activities and interventions aimed at enhancing students' academic and social development
  • Supporting the use of assistive technology and other resources to aid student learning
  • Observing and recording student progress, and communicating effectively with teaching staff and parents/guardians

Desired Skills and Experience

About you 

  • Experience working in a secondary school environment, ideally with a focus on Years 8, 9, and 10
  • Knowledge of various learning support strategies and techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other learning support professionals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the individual needs of students with diverse learning abilities
  • Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach towards students
  • Proficiency in using relevant educational technology and software
  • A passion for supporting the academic and personal development of young people

 

All positions at Peninsula Grammar require:

  • Current Working with Children Check & Police Check (or willingness to apply)
  • First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis Management, CPR Training - Current or willing to complete
  • Mandatory Child Safety training – provided by the school upon commencement
