The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated Sports Assistants to join our team for the 2026 school year on a full-time, term-time only basis, 12-month maximum term contract. This role perfect for recent school leavers looking to gain hands-on experience in a school setting. Opportunities are available across both our Junior and Senior School.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Assisting in the delivery of sport and physical education and sport programs
• Supporting teachers during lessons, training sessions, and sporting events
Supporting the swimming program and supervising our students
• Setting up, packing away, and maintaining sporting equipment
• Supervising students while promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and teamwork
• Assisting with school sports and extracurricular and other school activities such as camps, excursions and incursions
• Supporting student wellbeing and encouraging active, healthy lifestyles
About You
You are someone who:
• Has an interest or background in sport, physical activity, coaching, or health
• Enjoys working with children and adolescents
• Is reliable, organised, and a positive role model
• Works well collaboratively as part of a team
• Holds (or is working towards) AUSTSWIM qualifications and/or has experience in aquatic programs (highly regarded)
• Has relevant sport, coaching, or recreation experience (desirable but not essential)
Who Will the Successful Applicant Be?
• A recent 12 graduate or someone undertaking or having completed post-school sport-related study
• Keen to gain experience in a school-based role
• Passionate about sport and able to positively influence, motivate, and inspire young people
All positions at Peninsula Grammar require:
- Current Working with Children Check & Police Check (or willingness to apply)
- First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis Management, CPR Training - Current or willing to complete
- Mandatory Child Safety training – provided by the school upon commencement
