Job Description

The Role

Peninsula Grammar School is seeking a dedicated Facilities Team Member (Grounds) to join our property department. This full-time, permanent position is based in the picturesque Mornington Peninsula. As a key member of our property team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the school's grounds and ensuring a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

Your daily tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking general grounds maintenance activities such as mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning to uphold the appearance of the school grounds
  • Assisting with irrigation system maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal functioning
  • Conducting regular inspections of outdoor facilities and equipment to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance requirements
  • Supporting with setting up for outdoor events, functions and crossing supervision as required
  • Collaborating with the facilities team to contribute to the overall upkeep of the school's buildings and grounds
  • Adhering to health and safety protocols at all times to promote a secure working environment

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Training and/or qualification in Turf Management or Horticulture 
  • Proven experience in grounds maintenance, including lawn care, gardening, and landscaping
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to grounds maintenance activities
  • Ability to operate and maintain grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers
  • Experience in performing general maintenance tasks related to outdoor facilities and grounds
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with other members of the facilities team
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance needs across the school grounds

All positions at Peninsula Grammar require:

  • Current Working with Children Check & Police Check (or willingness to apply)
  • First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis Management, CPR Training - Current or willing to complete
  • Mandatory Child Safety training – provided by the school upon commencement
